The Regional Minister of Economic Development, Sustainability and Environment, Arantxa Tapia, chaired the opening ceremony of the 2nd edition of the Food4Future congress, the most important event worldwide in terms of innovation aimed at the Food and Beverage Industry, held at the Bilbao Exhibition Center.
La consejera de Desarrollo Económico, Sostenibilidad y Medio Ambiente, Arantxa Tapia, presidió el acto inaugural de la II edición del congreso Food4Future, el evento más importante a nivel mundial en materia de innovación dirigida a la Industria de la Alimentación y Bebidas, celebrado en el Bilbao Exhibition Center.
With only two editions, Food 4 Future has become an unmissable event for food and beverage companies worldwide. The congress will therefore be a platform to publicize the initiative “The Food Global Ecosystem, a proprietary ecosystem to respond to one of the most important global challenges: caring for healthy and sustainable food.
Main themes of the F4F
Automation, new processing techniques, new generation ingredients and sustainability are some of the main themes of this edition.
The first day of the congress was dedicated to the intelligent production of food from the fishing, meat and agritech industries with the use of big data or Artificial Intelligence.
The second day focused on the global treatment of sustainability, analyzing new sources of proteins and ingredients and how they can transform the diet and consumption pattern of societies to be more sustainable. The reduction of waste, emissions and the use of plastics was also analyzed, with the presentation of new packaging innovations.
The third and last day studied health and food safety with the use of new technologies. The food revolution was led by speakers such as Andoni Luis Aduriz, from Mugaritz, Ignacio Muñoz, from Angulas Aguinaga, Carmen Gómez-Acebo, from Coca Cola or Ricardo Fernández, from Carrefour, among many others.

On the other hand, among the nearly 300 stands, the institutional area that showed the strength of the territory stood out: public companies from the agri-food sector together with the Basque Internationalization Agency and the Invest In Basque Country team, both from the SPRI Group, showed the potential of the Basque Country.
In this space, the Basque Government offered different tools, such as support and accompaniment programs for startups, an important network of research centers for already consolidated firms that want to advance in innovation, or information on locations, conditions, etc., all aimed at foreign companies interested in setting up in the Basque Country.
In short, a structured food ecosystem that develops innovative solutions to the strategic challenges of the sector, thus stimulating cooperation and existing capabilities with international players, for a sustainable, safe, healthy and unique transformation of the food sector.
Con tan solo dos ediciones, Food 4 Future se ha convertido en una cita ineludible para las empresas alimentarias y de bebidas a nivel mundial. El congreso va a ser, por tanto, una plataforma para dar a conocer la iniciativa “The Food Global Ecosystem, un ecosistema propio para dar respuesta a uno de los retos mundiales más importantes: atender el cuidado de una alimentación sana y sostenible.
Principales temáticas del F4F
Automatización, nuevas técnicas de procesado, ingredientes de nueva generación y sostenibilidad, son algunas de las principales temáticas de esta edición.
El primer día el congreso estuvo dedicado a tratar la producción inteligente de alimentos de la industria pesquera, cárnica y agritech con el empleo del big data o la Inteligencia Artificial.
El segundo día se enfocó en el tratamiento global de la sostenibilidad, analizando nuevas fuentes de proteínas e ingredientes y cómo pueden transformar la dieta y el patrón de consumo de las sociedades para ser más sostenibles. Así mismo, se analizó la reducción de desperdicios, emisiones y uso de plásticos con presentación de novedades en packaging.
El tercer y último día estudió la salud y seguridad alimentaria con empleo de nuevas tecnologías. La revolución alimentaria estuvo liderada por ponentes como Andoni Luis Aduriz, de Mugaritz, Ignacio Muñoz, de Angulas Aguinaga, Carmen Gómez-Acebo, de Coca Cola o Ricardo Fernández, de Carrefour, entre muchos otros.

Por otro lado, entre los cerca de 300 stands destacó la zona institucional que mostró la fortaleza del territorio: empresas públicas del sector agroalimentario junto con la Agencia Vasca de Internacionalización y el equipo de Invest In Basque Country, ambas del Grupo SPRI, mostraron las potencialidades del País Vasco.
En este espacio, el Gobierno Vasco ofreció diferentes herramientas, tales como programas de apoyo y acompañamiento para startups, una importante red de centros de investigación para las firmas ya consolidadas que quieran avanzar en innovación, o información sobre ubicaciones, condiciones, etc., todo ello dirigido a empresas extranjeras que tienen interés por instalarse en Euskadi.
En definitiva, un ecosistema alimentario estructurado y que desarrolla soluciones innovadoras para los retos estratégicos del sector, estimulando así la cooperación y las capacidades ya existentes con agentes internacionales, para una transformación del sector alimentario sostenible, segura, saludable y singular.
