The Basque firm designs, manufactures and installs a wide range of storage solutions such as industrial shelving, mezzanines and lockers. It has an annual turnover of more than 80 million euros.
The company, with 115 years of experience, has its headquarters and production centre in Iurreta (a small town in Bizkaia) and subsidiaries in Germany, France, Belgium and Holland. Polypal Storage Systems has established itself as a benchmark in the transformation of steel for the manufacture of metal racking and is present in more than 30 countries.
“For several years we have been committed to the international market and we have clients in Peru, Colombia, Panama, Guatemala, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt, New Caledonia, Finland, Sweden, Norway and Estonia, among others”, says José Ramón Palacio, General Manager of Polypal Storage Systems.
“Our idea is to settle and grow in those markets where we are already established and, on the other hand, to enter new markets that are aligned with our specialisation”, advances the company’s representative.

WIDE VARIETY OF PRODUCTS
The company from Bizkaia offers a wide range of products which “ranges from racking for pallet load storage to medium and light load racking, suitable for manual handling of products”, Palacio explains. In addition, it offers shelving for offices and document archiving; mezzanines and mezzanine floors to maximise the surface area of warehouses; and metal lockers, both for work locker rooms and schools or for storing tools and mobile devices. But its main specialisation is in “pallet racking, particularly in large complex storage systems, which can reach heights of up to 45 metres”.
Metal racks are versatile solutions that allow for the efficient storage of any product on the market, whether on pallets, in boxes or other types of containers. “Not only do they optimise the available space, they also improve the organisation and accessibility of the products, thus facilitating logistics and work in any environment”, explains José Ramón Palacio.
Their shelving can be installed anywhere that requires storage of goods. Some of its racks have had uses as diverse as the storage of ships or cars. They can even be found in the heart of a mine in Peru and in the Helsinki Opera House.
In addition, Polypal also builds self-supporting warehouses, which in addition to storing goods, represent the main structure of the building and support its enclosure. “In these structures, the racks are the support of the building itself and can be up to 45 metres high, which could be the equivalent of a 15-storey building. You could say that it is a mega construction made with racks”, comments the general manager.
With all this, the Basque firm covers the needs of any industry that requires storage solutions, from the food, logistics and pharmaceutical sector, to retail, e-commerce, automotive or chemical, among others, which allowed it to achieve a turnover of more than 80 million euros in the last financial year. It currently has a workforce of around 180 people.
