The fasteners and fastening sector is complicated to grow internationally, since the product is low cost and there is not much specialization or differentiation between the different manufacturers. Even so, there are companies specialized in specific models, and for them, it is essential to have extra help to reach international markets from the Basque Country. That is precisely what Fastenex is dedicated to.
This is a consortium created by four companies in the sector: Estampaciones Laga, manufacturer of washers and stamped parts; Tornillería Segur, manufacturer of cold-stamped screws; Industrias Laneko, manufacturer of hot-stamped screws; and Rosmil Industrial, which is dedicated to the distribution of high-quality fasteners.
“From Fastenex, we act as if we were the export department of each company,” says Erich Friso, manager of Fastenex. “All international trade management is through us, the search for new customers, trade trips, attending trade fairs and also the receipt of commercial inquiries and orders.” The consortium partners thus have the opportunity to access foreign markets, can take advantage of the synergies created by the group and can offer their customers a wider range of products and services.
The main sectors for which Fastenex exports are automotive, railroad, distribution, construction, wind energy, and agriculture. As for exports, the company exports to European countries. The most important countries for Fastenex are Germany and France.
The pandemic has affected Fastenex, as it has lost a partner dedicated to the manufacturing of nuts, but this 2021 has served to recover customers and turnover. Looking to the future, the consortium states that its objective is to “incorporate more companies to be able to offer more products to our customers. For example, we are currently lacking a machining and bar turning manufacturer and another bolt manufacturer”.
El sector de la tornillería y la fijación es complicado para crecer a nivel internacional, ya que el producto es de bajo coste y no hay mucha especialización o diferenciación entre los diferentes fabricantes. Aun así, existen empresas especializadas en modelos concretos, y para ellas es fundamental contar con una ayuda extra para poder llegar a mercados internacionales desde el País Vasco, y es a lo que se dedica precisamente Fastenex.
Este es un consorcio creado por cuatro empresas del sector: Estampaciones Laga, fabricante de arandelas y piezas estampadas; Tornillería Segur, fabricante de tornillos estampados en frío; Industrias Laneko, fabricante de tornillos estampados en caliente; y Rosmil Industrial, que se dedica a la distribución de tornillería de alta calidad.
“Desde Fastenex actuamos como si fuésemos el departamento de exportación de cada empresa”, apunta Erich Friso, gerente de Fastenex. “Toda la gestión comercial internacional es a través de nosotros, la búsqueda de clientes nuevos, viajes comerciales, asistir a ferias y también la recepción de consultas y pedidos comerciales”. Así, los socios del consorcio tienen la oportunidad de acceso a mercados exteriores, pueden aprovechar las sinergias creadas por el grupo y pueden ofrecer a sus clientes una oferta más amplia.
Los principales sectores para los que exporta Fastenex son automoción, ferrocarril, distribución, construcción, eólico, y agrícola. En cuanto a las exportaciones, exportan a países europeos. Los países más importantes para ellos son Alemania y Francia.
La pandemia ha afectado a Fastenex, ya que ha perdido un socio que se dedica a la fabricación de tuercas, pero este 2021 ha servido para recuperar clientes y facturación. De cara al futuro, desde el consorcio afirman que su objetivo es “incorporar más empresas para poder ofertar más productos a nuestros clientes. Por ejemplo, actualmente falta un fabricante de mecanizado y decoletaje y otro fabricante de tornillos”.
