Castellanos y Echevarria-Vitoria, S.A. (Castellanos y Echevarria-Vitoria S.A., Cevisa) was founded in 1969, initially focused exclusively on subcontracted machining work. The company was created in connection with Michelin and its Vitoria plant, opened in 1966, as two of Cevisa’s founding partners already supplied Michelin’s facilities in Lasarte, Aranda, and Valladolid. This background helped establish the company’s early industrial foundation.
From the outset, the driving force behind the company, Ángel Ábalos, aimed to develop proprietary products rather than rely solely on subcontracting. Cevisa first commercialized gear reducers under license before moving on to design and manufacture its own flagship product: portable beveling machines.
Today, Cevisa is a global leader in the design and manufacture of portable beveling machines using shearing and machining technologies. The company operates in more than 60 countries across five continents. Over the past decade, it has achieved significant technological advances, producing highly reliable and high-capacity machines.
Cevisa offers portable beveling solutions for materials ranging from carbon steel and stainless steel to super-duplex and high-strength steels, handling thicknesses from 3 mm to 180 mm and bevel angles from 8° to 85°. Its machines serve a wide range of industries, including industrial boilermaking, wind and thermal energy, shipbuilding and defense, civil structures, transport, petrochemical, nuclear, and steel service centers.
The company has its own in-house design department, responsible for all current models, and places strong emphasis on customization—around 80% of its machines are tailored to specific customer requirements. Cevisa invests approximately 5% of its annual turnover in R&D and continues to develop new models to meet evolving market needs.
