“A vehicle may incorporate more than 1,300 springs, stamped and formed metal components, contact elements, washers, and flexible bus bars,” explains Iñigo Fernández de la Peña, Business Development Manager and Engineer at RPK Group.
These small-scale components are absolutely critical to the operation of any vehicle. Whether diesel, gasoline, hybrid, electric, or even hydrogen-powered. From conventional internal combustion systems to electric vehicle architectures, compression, torsion, and extension springs, as well as valve and contact springs, together with wave springs, washers, and flexible bus bar components, operate behind the scenes to ensure the vehicle’s functionality. A significant share of these elements is manufactured by the Basque cooperative RPK.
The automotive sector lies at the core of RPK Group’s activities: “For more than half a century, we have been designing and manufacturing these components for leading Tier 1 suppliers and OEM manufacturers worldwide, delivering high-performance solutions that combine strength and versatility.”
Whether in rapid prototyping or in the production of customized components, RPK Group is equipped to provide the flexibility and innovation required by engineering to address emerging challenges. Its trajectory of over 50 years is supported by continuous collaboration with clients’ engineering teams in the joint development of high-precision components.
The evolution of this cooperative enterprise, originally founded by a group of 19 entrepreneurial individuals in a small office in Vitoria-Gasteiz, has resulted in a globally oriented organization, with six locations across three continents and a workforce of more than 750 employees. Its activities are focused on highly demanding sectors, including automotive, medical, electrical, industrial, e-mobility, bicycles and e-bikes, power tools, consumer goods, and other specialized industries.
In 2024, RPK marked 50 years of continuous learning, noting that “we can say we are at our strongest moment.” Its cooperative organizational model constitutes a core element of its identity and shapes its approach to inter-firm relations, grounded in collaboration and a people-centered philosophy. Today, the company stands as a strategic partner of reference for some of the most demanding industries worldwide, developing highly complex solutions on a global scale while consistently meeting delivery timelines.
