The Basque Country, Navarre and New Aquitaine face major challenges in the field of mobility / Euskadi, Navarra y Nueva Aquitania afrontan importantes retos en materia de movilidad

Institutional representatives of the Euroregion met in the framework of Go Mobility, the electric mobility fair held in Irun, where they signed different collaboration agreements aimed at developing joint projects in the field of electric mobility.

Representantes institucionales de la Euroregión se han reunido en el marco de Go Mobility, la feria de movilidad eléctrica celebrada en Irún, donde han firmado diferentes acuerdos de colaboración que buscan desarrollar proyectos conjuntos en el ámbito de la movilidad eléctrica.

Go Mobility is the meeting point for the main public and private actors in Southern Europe, where the needs of the present and the future challenges of sustainable mobility find their solutions.it is an event held in the heart of the Euskadi-Navarra-Aquitaine Euroregion and brings together the agents of the value chain of sustainable and intelligent mobility, promoting exchanges of high added value and promoting innovative projects and industrial transformation of the territory, based on an exhibition area, conferences, round tables and a test area.

This year’s is the third edition of this biannual fair that has brought together a hundred companies, an increase of 22% over the previous edition held in 2020. Among them are present all members of the value chain such as battery manufacturers, infrastructure and network companies, energy suppliers, service integrators, connectivity and also Big Data.

Mikel Irujo, Minister of Economic and Business Development of the Government of Navarre, has been one of the most active institutional representatives of this fair; in his interest in projecting the region, he has held numerous meetings and, among them, has signed a collaboration agreement with agents from the Basque Country and New Aquitaine that will seek to develop joint projects in the field of electric mobility.

The collaboration agreement with ‘TOPOS’, a cluster included in the mission of the Digital Aquitaine Association of this French region, and the MUBIL Foundation, formed by companies, technology centers and other agents of Gipuzkoa and the Basque Country, aims to create a space for continuous collaboration to jointly plan and carry out activities of awareness, dissemination, networking and promotion of consortium projects between companies, institutions and technology centers of the three territories. The objective is to promote innovation and competitiveness of the Euroregional business and knowledge network for the generation and demonstration of solutions in the field of electric, autonomous, connected and shared mobility.

Founding of MUBIL and Basque Energy Agency (EVE) 

At this fair, other interesting collaboration agreements have also been signed, such as the one established by the president of MUBIL, Jabier Larrañaga, and the president of EVE, Arantxa Tapia, Basque Minister of Economic Development, Sustainability and Environment in the Basque Government. The aim of this agreement is to underpin MUBIL’s strategy as a center for sustainable and intelligent mobility, and to promote this field in the Basque Country; among other actions, investments in test and R&D equipment are planned for the new Center for Intelligent and Sustainable Mobility to be located in the Eskuzaitzeta industrial estate in Zubieta, Gipuzkoa.

Likewise, and in accordance with the agreement, the two agents will join forces to advance their shared objectives, among which are the promotion of sustainable mobility and the use of more efficient modes of transport; the use of alternative fuels and technologies; turning Gipuzkoa and the Basque Country into a center for experimentation and development in intelligent mobility; to align scientific-technological and industrial capacities for the generation of new economic activity and technology; to promote mechanisms for the transfer of knowledge and the generation of new business niches to create new business fabric, transform the existing one, and generate new jobs; and to integrate the actions of the main actors in a public-private cooperation network with international projection.

To this end, MUBIL and EVE will collaborate in different areas such as awareness and dissemination actions, the design and promotion of continuous training programs for the economic sectors involved in the transformation towards the new mobility, the attraction of investment for business and entrepreneurship projects, and the dissemination of the initiatives organized by MUBIL both in the Basque Country and internationally. In addition, they agree to co-finance through the agreement the biannual fair ‘Go Mobility’.

Go Mobility es el punto de encuentro de los principales actores públicos y privados del sur de Europa, donde las necesidades del presente y los retos futuros de la movilidad sostenible encuentran sus soluciones.Se trata de un evento que se celebra en el Corazón de la Eurorregión Euskadi-Navarra-Aquitania y reúne a los agentes de la cadena de valor de la movilidad sostenible e inteligente, fomentando intercambios de alto valor añadido e impulsando proyectos innovadores y la transformación industrial del territorio, en base a una zona de exposición, conferencias, mesas redondas y una zona de test.

La de este año es la tercera edición de esta feria bianual que ha congregado a un centenar de empresas, lo que supone un aumento de un 22% respecto a la edición anterior que se celebró en el año 2020. Entre ellos están presentes todos los miembros de la cadena de valor como fabricantes de baterías, empresas de infraestructuras y redes, proveedores de energía, integradores de servicios, conectividad y también Big Data.

Mikel Irujo, consejero de Desarrollo Económico y Empresarial del Gobierno de Navarra, ha sido uno de los representantes institucionales más activos de esta feria; en su interés por proyectar la Comunidad Foral, ha mantenido numerosas reuniones y, entre ellas, ha firmado un convenio de colaboración con agentes de Euskadi y Nueva Aquitania que buscará desarrollar proyectos conjuntos en materia de movilidad eléctrica. 

El acuerdo de colaboración con ‘TOPOS’, clúster incluido en la misión de la Asociación Digital Aquitaine de esta región francesa, y la Fundación MUBIL, formado por empresas, centros tecnológicos y otros agentes de Gipuzkoa y el País Vasco, persigue crear un espacio de colaboración continua para planificar y realizar conjuntamente actividades de sensibilización, difusión, networking y promoción de proyectos consorciados entre las empresas, instituciones y centros tecnológicos de los tres territorios. El objetivo es favorecer la innovación y competitividad del tejido empresarial y de conocimiento eurorregional para la generación y demostración de soluciones en el ámbito de la movilidad eléctrica, autónoma, conectada y compartida.

Fundación MUBIL y el Ente Vasco de la Energía (EVE) 

En esta feria, también se han firmado otros interesantes convenios de colaboración, como el establecido por el presidente de MUBIL, Jabier Larrañaga, y la presidenta de EVE, Arantxa Tapia, consejera vasca de Desarrollo Económico, Sostenibilidad y Medio Ambiente en el Gobierno Vasco. El objetivo de este acuerdo es apuntalar la estrategia de MUBIL como polo de movilidad sostenible e inteligente, e impulsar este ámbito en Euskadi; entre otras acciones están previstas unas inversiones en equipamiento de ensayo e I+D destinadas al nuevo Centro para la Movilidad Inteligente y Sostenible que se ubicará en el polígono Eskuzaitzeta de Zubieta, Gipuzkoa.

Asimismo, y acorde con el convenio, los dos agentes sumarán fuerzas para avanzar en sus objetivos compartidos, entre los que se encuentran el impulso a la movilidad sostenible y la utilización de modos de transporte más eficientes; al uso de combustibles y tecnologías alternativos; convertir Gipuzkoa y Euskadi en un Polo de experimentación y desarrollo en movilidad inteligente; alinear las capacidades científico-tecnológicas e industriales para la generación de nueva actividad económica y tecnología; promover mecanismos de transferencia de conocimiento y de generación de nuevos nichos de negocio para crear nuevo tejido empresarial, transformar el existente, y generar nuevos empleos; e integrar las actuaciones de los principales actores en una red de cooperación público-privada con proyección internacional.

Para ello, MUBIL y EVE colaborarán en distintos ámbitos como la realización de acciones de sensibilización y divulgación, el diseño y fomento de programas de formación continua para los sectores económicos involucrados en la transformación hacia la nueva movilidad, la captación de inversión para proyectos empresariales y de iniciativa emprendedora, y la difusión de las iniciativas organizadas desde MUBIL tanto en Euskadi como a nivel internacional. Además, acuerdan cofinanciar mediante el convenio la feria bianual ‘Go Mobility’.
