The prestigious classical music magazine has highlighted Euskadiko Orkestra in its January issue, granting a recognition that no other orchestra in Spain had received until now.
La prestigiosa revista de música clásica ha destacado a Euskadiko Orkestra en su número de enero, otorgando un reconocimiento que ninguna otra orquesta de España había recibido hasta ahora.
Following the excellent reviews received for the albums Ravel and Americascapes, Euskadiko Orkestra has been highlighted as the ‘Orchestra of the Month’ in the January 2022 edition of the prestigious classical music magazine Gramophone. Euskadiko Orkestra thus becomes the first orchestra in Spain to achieve this recognition.
The publication highlights the deployment of effort and resources that Euskadiko Orkestra makes by offering numerous concerts in the wide territory to which it is due and where it has a loyal audience, as well as its work in the recording and dissemination of Basque music. It also remarks that Euskadiko Orkestra was ‘one of the first European orchestras to seek solutions to return to the stage in the pandemic’.
This recognition as ‘Orchestra of the Month’ also comes in the context of the recent release of two world-renowned albums recorded under the direction of Robert Treviño and on the Ondine label. The first of these was Ravel, which received numerous mentions in prestigious publications. The last few weeks have seen a flurry of equally extraordinary reviews for Americascapes. The album, dedicated to under-recognized American authors whose works were selected by Robert Treviño, has been named ‘Editor’s Choice’ and ‘Highly Recommended Album’ by Gramophone.
Oriol Roch, general director of Euskadiko Orkestra, says: “It is difficult for orchestras in Spain to get the international spotlight, so we do not take lightly the honor of the wonderful recognition from Gramophone and other media. It drives us to be more inspired and determined even in difficult times like these, and to represent the Basque Country to the world, performing good music to the best of our ability.”
Tras las excelentes críticas recibidas por los álbumes Ravel y Americascapes, Euskadiko Orkestra ha sido destacada como la ‘Orquesta del mes’ en la edición de enero de 2022 de la prestigiosa revista de música clásica Gramophone. Euskadiko Orkestra se convierte así en la primera formación de España en conseguir este reconocimiento.
La publicación destaca el despliegue de esfuerzo y recursos que Euskadiko Orkestra realiza ofreciendo numerosos conciertos en el amplio territorio al que se debe y donde cuenta con un público fiel, así como su labor en el registro y difusión de música vasca. También remarca que Euskadiko Orkestra fue ‘una de las primeras orquestas europeas en buscar soluciones para volver a los escenarios en la pandemia’.
Este reconocimiento de ‘Orquesta del mes’ se enmarca además en el contexto de la reciente publicación de dos álbumes de reconomiento mundial grabados bajo la dirección Robert Treviño y bajo el sello Ondine. El primero de ellos fue Ravel, que obtuvo numerosas menciones en prestigiosas publicaciones. Las últimas semanas ha habido un aluvión de reseñas igual de extraordinarias con Americascapes. El álbum, dedicado a autores americanos poco reconocidos y cuyas obras fueron seleccionadas por Robert Treviño, ha sido nombrado ‘Elección del editor’ y ‘Disco altamente recomendado’ por Gramophone.
Por su parte, Oriol Roch, director general de Euskadiko Orkestra, manifiesta: “A las orquestas en España les resulta difícil obtener el foco de atención internacional, por lo que no nos tomamos a la ligera el honor del maravilloso reconocimiento de Gramophone y de otros medios. Nos impulsa a tener más inspiración y determinación incluso en tiempos difíciles como estos, y a representar al País Vasco ante el mundo, interpretando buena música lo mejor que podamos”.
